Cumbria County Council are holding a community drop-in event for the new flood resilience and defence infrastructure they are delivering in Keswick. They are offering this opportunity for the public to come along and find out more about the project, encouraging them to ask any questions they may have and share their own views.

Cumbria County Council are developing this project in the Penrith Road area of Keswick, hoping to protect hundreds of properties from future flooding events and reduce the extent of surface water flooding to surrounding highways and businesses.

The works are valued at around £2million and will include improved drainage for surface water run-off as well as a new flood storage attenuation pond at Springs Field, and a new pumping station underneath or adjacent to Penrith Road which will discharge into the River Greta.

Cumbria County Council intends to submit the planning application for the project within the next month, and start construction in August 2019.
