Tuesday 6th June (and Tues 23rd April)
9am – 5pm
Moorahill Farm, Near Bampton, Cumbria, CA10 2QA
Park opposite the B&B entrance, not in the farm/courtyard. Don’t follow sat nav to post code.
Cumbria Rivers Trust have been using contractors with excavators to cover eroded peatland with turf, near the High Street Roman road on the tops of Bampton Common (between Haweswater and Ullswater). To aid recovery, they now need to replant clumps of the bog mosses (Sphagnum) and cotton grasses that form peat. Additionally, the day will involve walking over the work completed by the contractors and tidying and replacing any loose turves.
You’ll need to be physically fit as the site is fairly remote. Walking time to the site is approximately 1.5 hours to around 650m elevation.
Please bring a packed lunch and wear wellington boots or waterproof walking boots and appropriate warm clothing. Ideally bring some spare clothes.
Booking is essential, phone 01539 816300 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
