Have Your Say on the Anchorsholme Coast Protection Scheme

Blackpool Council is seeking community feedback on plans to enhance sea defences at Anchorsholme. The Environment Agency is funding this critical work to combat beach lowering, helping to maintain and protect the beach and sand in this area.

As part of the proposed scheme, rock groynes will be introduced along the beach to act as headlands, which will help trap and retain the natural onshore sand supply. A rock revetment will also be constructed to offer a long-term solution to prevent movement and damage to existing concrete defences. This project, delivered by contractor Balfour Beatty, will come at no cost to Blackpool Council and is aligned with the council’s long-term coastal management strategy established in 2012.

The improved Anchorsholme coastal defences will provide enhanced flood protection to over 5,000 properties in the area.
