A £4.5m project to upgrade nearly 10km of water network in the Tarporley area of Cheshire is underway.
The nine-month project will see United Utilities replacing water mains with new pipeline that is designed to protect against burst and leaks improving the resilience and reliability of the drinking water network in the area.
It is part of United Utilities £380m programme to upgrade more than 925km of water mains across the North West in the next five years. More than 159km of these will be in Cheshire.
Work will be carried out in three phases to keep disruption to a minimum. Temporary traffic management and signed diversion routes will be in place while work is carried out with access maintained for residents.
The first phase of the works begins in Organsdale in January, moving onto Tarporley Road late February, before finally completing on Knights Lane in September. The new pipework will span a total of 9.8km.
The water company has notified customers in the area to let them know about the work. It is also reminding customers that all United Utilities’ employees and contract partners carry ID cards and will be happy to have their identity checked. If in doubt, customers should call 0345 672 3723.
