Kendal 3 Phase Flood Risk Management Scheme Information

A Flood Risk Management Scheme in Kendal which is designed to better protect residential and business properties from flooding, improve the local environment and improve community amenities has been proposed by the Environment Agency. The scheme is thought to bring a number of benefits, some of these include:

People

  • 1437 homes to be better protected.
  • 14 new gates will be installed providing access to riverside.
  • 82 community facilities better protected.

Environment 

  • 3km of riverside footpath improvements.
  • 3666 New trees will be planted – for every tree removed, six new ones will be planted.
  • 5 Hectares of habitat and recreational space created.

Economy

  • £45m investment in Kendal
  • £725 money saved from future flood damage.
  • 1151 Businesses employing 6105 people better protected.
