Environment Agency career opportunities
The Environment Agency in Cumbria & Lancashire Area are offering career entry opportunities. The Environment Agency have volunteered to host four industry placements, from September 2026 onwards. These are industry placements and summer internships. The application window is open until 15th February 2026.

Springpod – Environment Agency work experience
Kendal Flood Risk Management Scheme has generated a number of opportunities for children and students to get involved in the development of the scheme being delivered within the town and within the Upper Kent Catchment. A new Work Experience programme has now been launched, designed to introduce students (aged 13+) to the Environment Agency’s work in protecting communities and the environment.
What’s Included?
✔ Insight into the EA’s role in flood and coastal risk management.
✔ Exploration of early career pathways and key skills development.
✔ Interactive content, quizzes, and activities.
✔ Understanding of our responsibilities, priorities, and partnerships (including work with Defra and the Met Office).
✔ Awareness of our commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion.

Kendal Flood Scheme skills and expertise hub
The Environment Agency works collaboratively with other organisations to design and construct the flood scheme. The Environment Agency have commissioned WSP and Jacobs to develop the scheme design and Volkerstevin to construct it.
