Posted: 08/10/21

Environment Agency Press Release: 06/10/2021

Residents and businesses in Kendal are being given the opportunity to share their thoughts and give feedback ahead of a new planning application being submitted following proposed design improvements along Aynam Road and Waterside.

As part of the £76 million Kendal Flood Risk Management Scheme, the flood defences along Aynam Road and at Waterside have been refined, with suggested improvements to the look and feel of the design and the construction methods that will be used.

Stewart Mounsey, Flood Risk Manager for Cumbria said:
“We have listened carefully to feedback from the local community and local councillors on the design of the flood scheme along Aynam Road and Waterside, which has allowed us to refine plans for this area. These two areas are key locations in central Kendal, where the aim is to retain riverside views and access as a priority. We are now in a position to share the proposed improved design details with the public.

“There have been quite a number of changes, all of which can be viewed online by visiting
https://thefloodhub.co.uk/kendal/#section-10 . A feedback from to submit comments can also be found here.

“The deadline to submit comments is Friday 22nd October and all comments received will be fed into the ‘Statement of Community Involvement’ to support the planning application.”
