The annual ‘flood and coastal erosion risk management report: 1 April 2017 to 31 March 2018 has been released.

The report summarises the activities carried out by risk management authorities (RMAs) in England. The RMAs are:

  • The Environment Agency
  • Lead local flood authorities (LLFAs)
  • District councils (where there is no unitary authority)
  • Internal drainage boards (IDBs)
  • Water and sewerage companies
  • Highways authorities

The Environment Agency has produced this report since 2012 and they use information from their own staff and other risk management authorities. It outlines the work undertaken by all risk management authorities to:

  • Manage the risks from flooding and coastal erosion.
  • Achieve the objectives of the National Flood and Coastal Erosion Risk Management (FCERM) Strategy for England.
  • Plan for future flood and coastal erosion risk.

It also reports how lead local flood authorities have progressed on their local strategies and asset registers.
