Part 1 of lesson 10 is about flood defences and flood schemes, and how they can reduce flood risk in a catchment. Pupils will also learn about flood resilience and the different types, such as Property Flood Resilience (PFR) and Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS).
Part 2 of lesson 10 will teach pupils about natural flood management (NFM) and the multiple benefits it can have. The lesson also raises awareness about what should and shouldn’t go down the drain and how flushing the wrong things down the toilet can lead to blockages, fatbergs and flooding.
