***IMPORTANT UPDATE***

Phase 1

Due to unforeseen ground conditions, Phase 1 of the flood scheme has experienced delays.  The flood defences along Riverside Road in Lower Penwortham will now be completed by the end of December 2024.  While construction along some parts of Riverside and near the entrance to Miller Park in Preston will not be fully finished until late 2025.  The flood defences along Broadgate are complete.

Phase 2

Walton-le-Dale will be the primary focus of Phase 2, where the EA will be improving existing defences along both the River Ribble and River Darwen.  Surveys and ground investigations have been completed and will feed into a detailed design, which will go to public consultation before an application for planning permission is sought in Spring 2025.  Update letters about Phase 2 will be issued to residents and businesses early 2025.

The EA will be updating the PSR Flood Hub pages early 2025 with programme dates and more information about both Phase 1 and Phase 2.
